•  GENDER ADVOCACY

This programme was started in 1997 with the goals of accentuating gender concerns and promoting gender equity, and active participation of women in decision-making and economic enhancement. The programme will continue in this Plan Period. So far, activities at the provincial level have been limited to awareness creation workshops. However, each RCCS has incorporated some non-workshop gender activities. Coordination of the varied efforts at the regions is important.

DOSS recognizes that there are numerous actors in the gender advocacy arena. ACK will be facilitated to network with them.

he Church itself is an arena for promotion of gender equity. The ACK development staff at regional and national levels have participated in gender awareness workshops, towards promotion of gender mainstreaming. Men will be particularly targeted to participate alongside women in this Plan period. Gender fora will be encouraged in all the regions to facilitate dialogue on the effects of gender disparities on the various aspects of human development and HIV/AIDS.
