| INFLUENCING PUBLIC POLICY
There have been increasing calls for a greater space for Civil Society in formulation and monitoring of public policy. However, it is recognized that this also requires proactive measures on the part of Civil Society. The public generally does not get to hear of particular parliamentary bills or government policies until the formulation process is almost finalised. DOSS will seek ways of facilitating early awareness to the Church of emerging policy formulation matters and will work for appropriate response from ACK. The Advocacy approach will entail the use of the Church's strategic position at all levels, her interests that are non-partisan but universal as well as a team of well versed professionals in various socio-economic fields referred to as the ‘Public Watch Dog' (PWD) team to effectively lobby, research and offer credible alternatives.
Macroeconomics is at the heart of national development. ACK lay experts on the relevant issues (PWD team) will service the Church to enable it engage appropriately.
The goals and operation of COMESA, NEPAD, the Commission for Africa , and WTO all have far reaching implications for the standard of living of our people.
Both foreign and domestic national debts have remained a burden for our country. DOSS will seek ways for ACK to reposition itself for effective performance of its advocacy role at the national, regional, continental and international levels.
