Institutional Social Services

The social ministry of ACK also includes institutional social services. Statistics about the static units are incomplete, but the following in indicative. ACK has about 48 health units, 670 pre-schools, 871 primary schools and about 184 secondary. There are 38 ACK youth vocational centres, and numerous orphanages and community-based orphan-care schemes.

Most of these are under the proprietorship of the respective dioceses. The few provincial institutions are under the oversight of the Provincial Board of Institutions. These include the youth vocational centres, the ACK Guest Houses in Nairobi and Mombasa , St. Julian's Centre, and the ACK Language School .

Parish-run Community Development Services

A few parishes have community development schemes, e.g. the Urban Development Programme of All Saints' Cathedral and St. John's Community Centre, both in Nairobi .

Women Development Activities of the Mothers' Union

The Mothers' Union has 2 of its 5 objectives as social development objectives. These are:

•  To promote conditions in society favourable to stable family life and protection of children;
•  To help those whose family life has met with adversity

These objectives are being pursued at the grassroots level through the local chapters of the Union.
