Nakuru is located in the Rift Valley Province. The population stands at 1, 187, 039 (1999) Census. Most of the people are small scale farmers, while a few are micro- enterprenuers.

Its infrastructure is complimented with a favourably good road network. It serves as a link for businessmen and commuters to and from the capital city Nairobi, to other towns such as Kisumu and Eldoret, thus making it a commercial town.
