Agro-Economic Zones Data


•  The Climatic conditions of the region are determined by altitude range.

•  The region experience annual rainfall ranging from 400 mm to 2500mm. There are two rainy seasons namely long rains (March to May) and short rains (October to November)

•  The region is in the high and medium ecological zones with rich soils

•  Temperatures of the region are generally cool with a mean annual temperature of about 20 ° C. The coldest months are June, July and August and the hottest being January, February and March.

Agricultural Activities:

•  Cash crop farming which include tea, coffee and macadamia nuts
•  Food crops include maize beans, potatoes and banana
•  Livestock farming include rearing of cattle, goats sheep, poultry and pigs
•  Horticulture includes farming of onions, tomatoes and French beans
•  Fish farming is also practiced.

Economic Activities
