Achievements
Church Involvement in Development:-
No dichotomy between technical staff and Church Ministers in the field of development.
The link between Christians and IDCCS is imminent and cordial.
Ownership: -
In all mobilization sites there is sense of ownership of projects by the communities.
IDCCS partners only with the communities and common interest groups who have shown interest in her services thus empowering them to own their development process.
The communities and individual own resources fund most projects.
There are measures of sustainability in the community projects.
Empowerment/Capacity building:-
Communities in areas of mobilization/sensitization has taken place, the communities have come up with their own Community Action Plans.
Communities are able to fundraise locally to finance their projects.
The communities recognize IDCCS as facilitator not as a donor.
Communities can now network and collaborate with other Agencies.
Community participation is very effective and that has created social sustainability.
Zonal development committees are creating awareness on IDCCS activities.
Challenges
Limitation of funds to respond to community needs.
Poor weather conditions (Unreliable rainfall).
Plant nutrient deficiency in our soil due to soil degradation and leaching.
Dietary habits of communities.
Low crop production due to diseases, parasites and pests.
Slow community speed towards change.
Promotion of handout supplies by other agencies in the areas, thus promoting dependency syndrome.
Globalization and structural adjustment programmes.
Poor governance and management of resources.
High cost of irrigation equipments and farm implements.
Inflation.
Donor fatigue and changed interest.
Lack of credit facilities.
High cost of Agricultural inputs.
Inappropriate financial management and leadership at the grass-root.
Luck of political good will for the region.
