The Kalenjin, Pokot and Turkana ethnic groups with diverse cultures pre-dominantly inhabit in the area and practice livestock keeping and mixed farming while in the urban and pre-urban areas are, Kikuyus, Luhyas and Luos who are small-scale businessmen.
